Small Wind Turbines

C&F wind turbines give an excellent return on investment for anyone with a bit of windy land. Installed costs range from £35,000 to £165,000 and you can expect income in the region of £6,000 to £50,000, or even more if your site is very windy.

Medium Wind Turbines

Turbines in this range are popular with entrepreneurial farmers who have suffered from exposure all their lives and now want to make some money out of their wind-swept land. You will need a new connection to the grid and the planning process starts to become more onerous at this scale.

Large Wind Turbines

Proper, grown-up turbines capable of powering factories or towns, such as the Enercon E-70 with a rated output of 2.3MW; at this scale planning takes years, costs run into tens of millions and annual income is measured in millions.

Introduction to Wind Power

The generation of electricity (and income) from wind power is a confusing topic, laced with technical terms, esoteric units, preconceptions and the occasional outrageous claim. This section aims to explain the main sources of confusion and to provide a basic introduction to the topic, which we feel is essential to anyone planning to make a significant investment.

PLANNING

Planning can be a daunting process. Ecodyn can assist with a range of planning-related requirements including planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment and Contaminated Land. We have experience of dealing with planning authorities and planning officers all over Scotland and this gives us tremendous advantage and an insight to local idiosyncrasies making the process as easy and pain free as possible for our clients.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Ecodyn offer a wide range of traditional environmental consultancy services for both the public and private sectors and these include: management systems implementation, development and auditing (e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 9001), assistance with obtaining and maintaining environmental permits (PPC, Waste Management Licences), resource efficiency projects, green design, life cycle analysis and statistical process control. Many of our smaller clients don’t have the resources to employ a full time environmental manager and we fulfil this role for them; the number of days allocated to their operations being proportional to the nature and scale of their environmental impacts.

CONSTRUCTION

Ecodyn provide environmental advice to many clients involved with the construction sector including architects, developers, construction companies, housing associations, local authorities, and home owners. Ecodyn’s team includes BRE EcoHomes assessors and a BREEAM Commercial assessor.

RENEWABLES

Ecodyn have been working in the renewables sector for nearly a decade and are currently very busy with the installation of small scale wind turbines across Scotland (including the Highlands and Islands). We provide assistance with all aspects of wind turbine projects from feasibility studies through to installation, commissioning and financing of projects. Ecodyn are certified installers under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MSC) and members of the Renewable Energy Association’s REAL Assurance scheme.

CARBON

Carbon management is now high on the agenda of British businesses and as the last remaining sceptics mutter into silence and the most apathetic of us is shocked into action, a need has arisen for someone to help companies and agencies to develop carbon footprinting and management techniques. Ecodyn offer a carbon footprinting service to quantify where greenhouse gases are produced within the organisation in order to determine its overall environmental impact. Once this has been completed Ecodyn facilitate in the development carbon management programmes in order to minimise impact and reduce costs.

TRAINING

Ecodyn offer bespoke training courses to suit our individual clients’ needs. These typically include environmental awareness training, induction training and internal auditing training for organisations implementing Environmental Management Systems. We also provide training solutions to help clients meet the requirements of environmental regulations, for example: Environmental Permitting; Pollution, Prevention & Control; and Waste Management Licensing. We have a wealth of experience in delivering these courses across various sectors and have a great deal of training materials and tools that can be used by our clients.
