Although there was no special reason to expect significant contamination from past uses, this local farm steadings refurbishment was being held up by Fife Council Planning Department’s insistence on a proper risk assessment. We carried out a Stage 1 desktop study and site walkover, finding large amounts of asbestos roofing but little else. A remediation plan and the services of a specialist asbestos contractor were sufficient to remove the remaining obstacles to development.
