For the past twelve years, Ecodyn has developed a reputation for excellence and integrity across a range of environmental disciplines. Our main focus today is on renewable energy, predominantly the planning, financing, installation and maintenance of small-scale (5-50kW) and medium (50-500kW) wind turbines. We work for private clients, rural estates, farmers, community trusts and businesses across Scotland, either installing ourselves, or managing projects from a single 5kW turbine up to multi-megawatt developments. We are an MCS certified installer and a member of the Renewable Energy Association’s REAL Assurance Scheme, as well as operating an integrated management system certified to ISO9001 and ISO14001.
However, just because the wind side of the business is booming doesn’t mean that we are neglecting our heritage. We are also one of the foremost sustainable construction consultancies in Scotland, with around 100 EcoHomes projects on the go at any one time. We manage environmental compliance and performance for a range of commercial, industrial and agricultural clients and we undertake research and training projects for local authorities and commercial enterprises alike.
MCS
In the UK, Microgeneration and the Feed-in Tariff are managed by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). For a renewable energy installation to qualify for FITs payments, both the technology used and the installer must be registered with MCS. (The only exception to this is that products which were on the Transitional Arrangements list in 2010 remain eligible until the end of June 2011). MCS product testing is the most rigorous in the world, building on the existing IEC61400 series of international wind turbine design standards. MCS testing provides robust reassurance of product safety, performance, noise, reliability and a host of other parameters. MCS registered installers are similarly required to demonstrate competence, quality management and reliability and are audited regularly to ensure continuous improvement. If your installer refuses to cut corners and insists that everything is done by the book, you should be reassured that this is in your best interests. A wind turbine is a significant investment and you want to be sure that it will work through storms and blizzards, so it is worth doing it right.
ISO

Ecodyn has for many years operated an integrated management system which is certified to ISO9001:2008 for quality and 14001:2004 for environmental management; we are also in the process of having it certified to the Health & Safety standard OHSAS18001. Compliance with these internationally recognised standards demonstrates our commitment to excellence and world-class service delivery.
REA
Ecodyn is a member of the Renewable Energy Association’s REAL Assurance Scheme. This requires us to adhere to a stringent Code of Practice covering pre-sale activities, contracts, installation and maintenance. The REAL scheme also operates a Deposit and Advance Payment Insurance Scheme for any such payments that we take, so that you can be assured that your investment is secure.
IEMA
The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) is the leading membership body for environmental sustainability professionals.
AllEcodyn staffprogress through the IEMA membership levels. This ensures that our clients can be assured of a professional service from experienced and knowledgeable consultants. In the same way that you would not risk employing an architect, accountant or doctor without appropriate qualifications, we believe that professional membership in the environmental consultancy field should be a prerequisite. All consultants within the Ecodyn team are members of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) at various levels up to Fellow.
Management level staff are required to attain Chartered Environmentalist status and various team members also have appropriate qualifications such as Environmental Auditor, Lead EMS Auditor, QMS Auditor, EcoHome Assessor etc.
