Wind power
The UK renewable energy market was transformed on 1st April 2010 with the introduction of the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) regime. The scheme means that it is easier to calculate with confidence the return on investment for a wind turbine installation project, using the known FIT values, the performance of each turbine model, and the altitude and average windspeed of a given site. All these data are readily available.
Ecodyn has developed a model which uses these data to calculate the return on investment for any of the turbines in our portfolio and for any location in the UK. Recent demand from some of our larger commercial clients has extended this portfolio to include the turbines which extend up to 2.3MW, so that we now have detailed performance and cost data for effectively every turbine available. This facility allows us to provide very accurate and comprehensive economic data for prospective turbine sites, provided the wind continues to blow.
Renewables System Design
Ecodyn has taken care to select what we consider to be the most reliable and established turbine designs to be part of our portfolio, so that we can recommend the best turbine for your situation. We are able to offer a complete turn-key installation (or partnership, see below) at very attractive rates on a wide range of turbines of varying outputs from 6kW-2.3MW. These include:
- C&F Green Energy 6-100kW
- Northern Power 100kW
- Vergnet 275kW
- Enercon 330kW
- Wind Flow 500kW

Planning
Ecodyn specialise in completing planning applications for wind turbines and have completed them in all regions in Scotland. Each regional planning department operates in different ways and our experience helps us minimise the work required from you to complete the process.
We also complete grid applications for our turbine clients and have extensive experience dealing with both Scottish Power and Scottish and Southern Energy with respect to these applications.

Installation
Once the planning permission is granted, Ecodyn will offer to project manage the entire installation: sourcing foundation materials and cables, preparing for and laying the foundations, applying for and organising grid connection, and liaising with the various parties involved until the turbine is operating successfully.
Turbine maintenance contracts can also be arranged on request.
Partnership
A wind power project can seem like a complicated, risky and daunting prospect. As well as the physical constraints of wind regime, access, foundations, grid connection etc., you have to deal with planning, Ofgem, tariff agreements and, potentially, issues such as ecology, ornithology, archaeology, geology, communications, aviation, radar, visual impact etc. Frustratingly, at the end of all that, you may not get planning permission anyway. Ecodyn has developed a partnership approach to wind power projects to help our clients avoid this risk and stress. For a small percentage of the income from the completed project, we will undertake the whole planning process, as well as installation, commissioning and maintenance at our risk and for free. If the capital outlay for the turbine is also a problem, we can take this on too, so if you have a suitable site, you can benefit from the new renewable energy regime without risk or cost.
