We are currently working on a project to install a 500kW Enercon E-48 turbine, with highly constrained grid export potential, by installing an energy management system supplying power to 30 crofts, while facilitating the development of a local timber processing business. It is envisaged the timber processing business be operated by the Community Trust. These solutions will improve the sustainability of the community and create employment through the Trust, while securing a viable return on investment for the investor. Grid restrictions have required the development of an export management system with thermal store but we are also currently modelling the option of additional biomass to act as a backup.
