EcoHomes & BREEAM Assessments

Developed by BRE in 2001, EcoHomes has become the de facto standard for sustainable buildingin the residential sector.  Ecodyn is a key player  in the EcoHomes industry in Scotland.  The EcoHomes rating considers building materials, energy efficiency, transport and other aspects, combining them into a single score.  We have two registered EcoHomes assessors and deal with the vast majority of EcoHomes related work in Scotland.

Alongside EcoHomes, Ecodyn also has a BREEAM assessor for non-domestic buildings (e.g offices, industrial).  BREEAM is an environmental assessment method which sets the standard for best practice in sustainable buliding design, construction and operation.  Similar to the EcoHomes systems, it uses recognised performance measures and sets them against established benchmarks to evaluate a building's environmental credentials.  As with EcoHomes, a scoring system is used to determine the appropriate rating for the development (e.g Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent, Outstanding).

Our clients include developers, architects and housing association who are looking to achieve a certain rating for their projects.  Our service ranges from a simple assessment against the standard to comprehensive design assistance to ensure that the environmental measures are implemented into these developments so that the appropriate rating can be achieved.  This requires detailed knowledge not only of building regulations but of advances in technology and the environmental merits of various building designs and features.  Ecodyn currently have over fifty assessments in progress,
